“The place for women who want to play big in the world.” Audrey Bellis (Founder, Worthy Women Series)
I’ve always respected and admired the ‘go-getter’ – especially the kick ass woman entirely driven to make a difference. Upon our first phone conversation, Audrey Bellis left me feeling inspired and invigorated as a result of her dedication, focus and deep rooted passion to constructively contribute, help shape and develop the evolution of the start-up culture in downtown Los Angeles, along with having Founded and established the ‘Worthy Women Series‘. Audrey has become instrumental to playing a key role in the ‘downtown renaissance’. She is responsible for Founding ‘Start Up DTLA‘ – a business that brings tech and creative companies into DTLA in partnership with LA Mayor Eric Garcetti and CD14 Councilman Jose Huizar. To compliment these initiatives, the Worthy Women 2016 Conference kicks off on Friday 4 November for 1000s of women – an event and conference series for tech and creative entrepreneurial women to learn best practices needed for success, but also to create a safe space and supportive community of amazing women who “dare to play by their own rules, forge their own path, and live their true self worth”. The most valuable personal growth often occurs post hardship, and hardship in anyone’s lifetime is unavoidable. It’s all about the “gems” you take away and how you interpret the lessons. Audrey Bellis is a woman of great self worth, having risen above some challenging hardships of her own; to reinvent herself as someone who now makes a weekly, monthly and annual motivational difference for 1000s of other women. “Worthy Women started with a vision and a belief that everything we do stems from a place of whether we “feel worthy” or are hustling to make others believe that we are. Too often we play it small or safe, we talk ourselves down from our dreams and second guess our abilities. It’s easy to forget that the possibilities we envision for ourselves stem from what we think we deserve. To build relationships, businesses, and find our creativity we must first accept and believe we are worthy of them, because we inherently are worthy. We created our free monthly event series as a safe space for tech and creative entrepreneurial women to learn best practices needed for success. But also to create a safe space and supportive community of amazing women who dare to play by their own rules, forge their own path, and live their true self worth. So ask yourself… When did you realize you were worthy? When did you decide you were worth more than ‘that‘?” (Audrey Bellis). Even though this particular conversation (podcast) sounds a little like we recorded down a water pipe (!), the essential take-aways include many valuable and smart insights from Audrey, and clear recipes for success. There’s no doubt that this beautiful entrepreneur will continue to touch the hearts and lives of several women as they journey through career peaks and troughs, but continue to come together to inspire and learn from one another, achieving a stronger sense of individual and collective self worth.
